Paul James died Tuesday, June 17, 2008 after an extended illness. He died peacefully at Gateway Health in Cleveland surrounded by family and loved ones.
He is survived by his wife Martha Nell Chambers James of Clarkesville; his son Charles Newton James of Clarkesville; his sisters Grace Grogan of Braselton Ga. and Pat Patterson of Gillsville Ga; his niece Helen Seabolt of Clarkesville and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Jesse Harold James, Fred James, Bill James, Edwin James and John James.
Paul was a native of Clarkesville Ga. He served in the United States Army during WWII. Mr. James was retired from Habersham Mill, where he worked in the carding department.
He and his wife have been married for 53 loving years.
Services will be held at Hillside Memorial Chapel Friday, June 20, at 2:00 PM, The Rev. Charles Morrison and The Rev. Marrvin Beasley officiating. Burial will follow at Alley’s Chapel. The family will receive friends and loved ones Thursday, June 19, from 6-9PM at Hillside Memorial Chapel in Clarkesville Ga.
