Agnes J. Funk Powell

Funeral services for Agnes J. Funk Powell, age 84 of Mt. Airy will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Hillside Memorial Chapel.  Rev. Larry Ryals and Rev. Raymond Payne will officiate with interment to follow the service in Welcome Home Baptist Church Cemetery.  

Mrs. Powell passed away Monday, September 16, 2019 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born on March 21, 1935 in Mt. Airy, Georgia, Mrs. Powell was the daughter of the late Godfrey Martin Funk and Essie Pearl Hefner Funk.  Mrs. Powell was formerly employed with Riegel Textiles/ Mt. Vernon Mills and she was a member at Welcome Home Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until her health prevented her from attending.  Mrs. Powell had a heart for others and loved making pound cakes and taking to elderly church members and she also enjoyed traveling to the mountains.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Powell is preceded in death by husband Tommy J. Powell, sister Emma Mae Hunter, brother and sister in law Godfrey Martin Funk, Jr and Patty Funk, brother and sister in law William Harvey Funk and Hazel Funk, sister Betty Jean Funk, brother Ralph Funk, brother George Arthur Funk and brother in law Lloyd Chambers.

Survivors include son Raymond Allan Greene of Mt. Airy, stepsons Jerry Powell of Baldwin and Jimmy Powell of Demorest, brother and sister in law James and Donna Funk of Homer, sister Bonnie Chambers of Lilburn, sister in law Mary Funk of Cornelia, grandchildren Kendall Greene, Aspen Greene, Jody Powell and Jamie Powell, one great grandchild, special friends Larry and Cheryl Smith, Mildred Moss and Ann King, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many friends.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 18th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Thursday, September 19th from 12:00 noon until the service hour.
