Emily Grace (Gibbs) Smith

Funeral services for Emily Grace Gibbs Smith, age 79 of Mt. Airy, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Old Toccoa Baptist Church.  Rev. Wes King, Rev. Ralph Smith and Rev. Phillip Yarber will officiate with interment to follow the service in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Smith passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018.

Born on April 24, 1939 in the Chopped Oak Community of Stephens County, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Lewis and Sarah Dickerson Gibbs.  She was employed as a machine operator for Tal Sportswear and was a member of Heritage Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Willie Junior Smith, son Wille W. Smith, and sister Lillie Justice.

Survivors include daughters Debra McConnell (Curtis) of Mt. Airy, Cindy King (Wesley) of Commerce and Rebecca Holcombe of Mt. Airy, son Raymond Gene Smith of Mt. Airy, brother William Gibbs of Toccoa, sisters Joan Justice of Fitzgerald and Dorothy Chambers of Toccoa, nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Hillside Memorial Chapel on Thursday, September 6th and Friday, September 7th from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
