James Early Britt

Funeral services for James Early Britt, age 86 of Gainesville, will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Hillside Memorial Chapel.  Interment will follow the service at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery and the family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday prior to the service from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.

Born in Lilburn, Georgia on September 14, 1931, Mr. Britt was the son of the late Fred W. and Celia Mae Lee Britt.  Mr. Britt attended Stone Mountain High School and he was a self employed building contractor for 60 years.  He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandkids.  Mr. Britt was a member of Stone Mountain Masonic Lodge and a member and deacon of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Mr. Britt was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 68 ½ years Carolyn Smith Britt of Gainesville, daughters and sons in law Dianne and Bill Parker of Conway, South Carolina, Barbara and Jim Clyburn of Gainesville, daughter Carol Britt of Gainesville, daughter Kathy Lee of Gainesville, son and daughter in law Tony and Kathy Britt of Monticello, sister Frances Roberts, grandchildren Stephanie Bullard, Darren Lee (Brittany), Scott Clyburn, Brandon Lee, Wesley Britt, James Bullard, Bevan Lee (Michelle), Caroline Clyburn, Michele Lee, and Shelby Britt as well as eight great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Love Light, a division of The Medical Center Foundation at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
