Willene (Jones) Barron

Willene Jones Barron went to her heavenly home on December 27, 2017.  She was born April 22, 1926 in Habersham County, and was a life-long resident of the New Liberty area of Clarkesville.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Will and Vassie Jones; and nine brothers and sisters.  Her husband, Earl Barron, died in November 1987.

Willene married Earl on March 21, 1943, and she graduated from Clarkesville High School in May 1943.  While he built custom houses primarily in Habersham County, she was a partner in operating their Fieldale poultry farm, and in raising their three children.  Early in their marriage she was employed at Chicopee Mfg. (now Ethicon) in Cornelia.  She also worked for a short time at Piedmont Automotive, and as a private caregiver after completing nurses’ aide training at North Georgia Technical College.  She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church for over 70 years, and she enjoyed singing in the choir for many years.

She is survived by her daughter, Ouida Mize and Kale of Clarkesville; sons, Charles Barron and Julie of Carrollton; and Dale Barron and Cheryl of Clarkesville.  Her four grandchildren are Adam Barron and Melissa, Rebecca Barron and DeAndre Tinker, Trish Engle and Michael, and Hope Weathersbee and Allen. She has six great-grandchildren.  

Visitation will be held on December 31 from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at Hillside Memorial Chapel.  The service will be in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 PM with Dr. Rick Quarles and Rev. Austin Kelley officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Bethlehem Baptist Church cemetery.
