Anthony Michael Fogarty, 94, passed away in Clarkesville, GA on Tuesday, October 22nd.
“Tony” was born on January 30, 1930 to Thomas Joseph Fogarty, Sr. and Lucretia Coleman Fogarty. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Martha Thompson Fogarty and his brother, Thomas Joseph Fogarty, Jr. Tony leaves behind seven children, eighteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren whom he showered with love throughout his life.
Tony was a graduate of Benedictine Military Class of 1947 where he excelled in all sports especially Basketball, Tennis, and Swimming. He took his array of athletic prowess to Armstrong State College. Tony proudly served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He retired after 40 years as an Engineer with Seaboard Coastline Railroad. As a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, Finean Society, and Hibernian Society, he was St. Patrick’s Day all the way!
As an avid sports enthusiast and coach, Tony was Notre Dame’s number one fan, ☘️Go Irish! Loving nature, he would get lost for many hours in the garden. Many of his neighbors considered Tony a Master Gardener especially with Azaleas and Camellias. God and Family were first with Tony always living his life to the fullest and using every bit of his God given talent. Everyone was a friend and to his family he was the Best of the Best!
Visitation and Rosary will be held at Fox and Weeks, 7200 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah on Wednesday evening at 6:00pm. A Mass will be held to celebrate Tony’s wonderful life on Thursday, October 31st at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1707 Bull Street, Savannah, with burial to follow in the Catholic Cemetery, 1420 Wheaton Street, Savannah.
