Bessie Pearl Free Groves

Bessie Pearl Free Groves, age 92 of Clarkesville, Georgia took her heavenly flight home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 01, 2022 following an extended illness.

Born in Clarkesville, Georgia on October 19, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Lester Lee, Sr. & Manonia Gragg Free. Bessie was a poultry worker at the Hatchery with Fieldale Farms Corporation where she retired with many years of dedicated service. Most of all, she loved her family unconditionally. In her spare time, Bessie enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and was an avid supporter of the Atlanta Braves.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Alonzo Groves; daughter, Donna Groves Canup; brothers, J.B. Free, C.T. Free, Homer Free, Johnny Free, David Freeman Free, Lester Lee Free, Jr.; sisters, Margie Canup, Thelma Burton, & Anna Alexander.

Survivors include her son, Dennis Groves; daughter, Deborah Groves, both of Clarkesville, GA; twin sister, Jessie Ruth Tench; brother, Nelson Free; sister, Essie Free Goss all of Clarkesville, GA; grandchildren, Deleah & Hamp Cross, Dustin Groves, Daniel Floyd Groves, Kendra & Seth Blackburn; great-grandchildren, Hayden Groves, Drake Alexander Groves, Jake Cross, Jack Cross, & Jolie Cross; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 04, 2022 at Hillside Memorial Chapel in Clarkesville, Georgia with Rev. Connie Berry officiating. Interment will be held at Stonepile Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour on Thursday.
