Birdie Moss Obituary

Birdie Lee Moss, age 94 of Clarkesville, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020.

Born on February 6, 1926 in the Habersham Mill Community, Birdie was the daughter of the late Hoyt Franklin Moss and the late Ola Trotter Moss.  She was the secretary for the county extension agent for over thirty years, later serving in the USDA office for five years. Birdie has been described by a fellow worker as a “walking encyclopedia” for the farmers of Habersham County.  Birdie was a loyal and very active member of Clarkesville Baptist Church having served in a number of different positions over the years.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sister and brother in law Ruth and Bill Pitts, brother Larry Franklin Moss and nephew Sam Pitts.

Survivors include nephew Fred Pitts and his wife Cheryl of Clarkesville, great nephew Scott Pitts his wife Georgia and their children Addie Pitts, Hogan Pitts and Morgan Pitts.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 3-6 PM. Private graveside services will be held at Habersham Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Clarkesville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 667, Clarkesville, GA 30523.
