Bobby Jones, age 90 of Clarkesville, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 23, 2023.
Born in Clarkesville, Georgia on July 30, 1932, he was a son of the late Leonard & Flora Lee Free Jones. Bobby served his country proudly in the United States Air Force in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He worked his way through the ranks with a career that spanned over 20 years of dedicated service and retired as Master Sergeant. Bobby also worked for Wrenn Brothers as a hyster mechanic for over 20 years, Clarkesville Motor Company for many years, as well as the Heritage Golf Course where he was in charge of maintaining the greens. In his spare time, he enjoyed many traveling adventures, loved to fish, and hunt. Bobby was a life member of the Toccoa VFW Post #4346 and a member of Clarkesville Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Verona Frankum Jones; brother, Henry Jones; sister-in-law, Linda Frankum; and brothers-in-law, Paul Frankum & Lloyd Frankum, Jr.
Survivors include his children & their spouses, Randy & Sandy Jones, Cornelia, GA; Terry & Donald Hendrix of Clarkesville, GA; Tracy & Michael Dorsey of Cleveland, GA; Kelly & Mike Rhoades of Clarkesville, GA; sister & brother-in-law, Peggy & Ray Taylor of Clarkesville, GA; grandchildren, Alicia Hendrix, Amanda & Dustin Rogers, Adriane & Casey Jones, Miranda Jones, Ryan Jones, Julia Rhoades, Zach Rhoades, Nathan Rhoades, & Abby Rhoades; great-grandson, John Hendrix “Henry” Rogers; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Doug Frankum, James & Jean Frankum, & Virginia Frankum; special caretaker, Mary Abernathy as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2023 at Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. Kenneth McEntire officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Grant Reeves Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023 prior to the service.
