Clarence “Winford” Hendrix, age 78 of Clarkesville, Georgia took his heavenly flight home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 10, 2023.
Born in Lavonia, Georgia on May 23, 1944, he was a son of the late Clarence Lewis Hendrix & the late Minnie Lee Edwards Hendrix Welborn. Winford was a graduate of North Habersham High School, Class of 1962. He worked with Habersham Mills Corporation (Russell Mills) where he retired in 2003 with over 41 years of dedicated service. Winford loved the Lord first and foremost. He was a loving husband, dedicated father, and a doting Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In his spare time, Winford enjoyed electrical wiring and woodworking as well as goat and donkey farming. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and in recent years attended Habersham Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Hendrix.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Diane Green Hendrix of Clarkesville, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Freda & Steve Mitchell of Pendleton, SC; son & daughter-in-law, Greg & Stacy Hendrix of Cleveland, GA; sister, Kathy Hendrix of Cornelia, GA; brothers & sisters-in-law, Donald & Terry Kay Hendrix of Clarkesville, GA; Rickie & Pam Hendrix of Demorest, GA; Natalie Hendrix of Mount Airy, GA; grandchildren, Caleb & Ashley Mitchell, Chris & Courtney Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Dani Mitchell, Reed Mitchell, Rhett Mitchell, Eli Mitchell, Elliot Mitchell, & Hollis Mitchell; a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives, & friends.
At his request, a private family interment will be held at the Habersham Cemetery in Demorest, Georgia & a family celebration of Winford’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be made to the Habersham Fire Department “Last Call Honor Guard,” 4263 Hollywood Highway, Clarkesville, GA. 30523
