Danny David Chitwood

Danny David Chitwood, age 70 of Clarkesville, passed away Friday, October 25, 2024 following a brief illness.

Born in the Charm House on March 31, 1954, Mr. Chitwood was the son of the late Hubert and Wrighton Garner Chitwood.  Mr. Chitwood was an avid coin, hot wheels and model train collector.  He was a truck driver for DTS Transport, Orica Blasting and Smith Transport for over 40 years. Mr. Chitwood was a family man, his greatest joy was being surrounded by his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Mr. Chitwood attended Clarkesville Church of God.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Chitwood is preceded in death by brothers Marion Chitwood and Aaron Chitwood and sisters Brenda Garrett and Janet Nations.

Survivors include his wife Janice Bridges Chitwood of Clarkesville, daughters and sons in law Michelle and Dale Harkins of Baldwin and Brandy and Brad Whitener of Clarkesville, grandchildren E-Beth Bynum (Lucas), Nicholas Whitener and Samantha Whitener, great grandchildren Knoxleigh and Luke Bynum, sister and brother in law Quincy C. and Jason Blackburn of Carlton as well as numerous extended family members and his beloved companion “Molly”.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Umberhant and Rev. Tom Fish, officiating.  Interment will follow the service in Baldwin City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 4-8 PM and on Wednesday prior to the service from 11 AM until 2 PM.
