David Patrick Nichols, age 77 of Conyers, Georgia passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 6, 2025.
David was born in Clarkesville, Georgia on March 25, 1948. He was the son of the late Wallace Patrick Nichols and Rachel Margaret Hames Nichols. He graduated from North Habersham High (1966), Young Harris College (1968), University of Georgia (1971) and John Marshall Law School (1974). He married his high school sweetheart, and they moved to Atlanta to start a new life of their own. His parents engrained a love of small business and connection through working hard and shaping strong family relationships through that time spent together. Whether it was the grading business of his father, working with his siblings at LaPrades, or later in life in his own cattle farm and nursery business with his wife and daughters, David was constantly surrounded by those he loved. He was a strong willed, vibrant man with an undeniable work ethic. Cooking for family was his favorite, he was a grill master and lover of Cheetos. He loved to play golf with his friends, travel with family, watch Georgia football (GO DAWGS), and any time spent with his granddaughters.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years Julie Ann Church Nichols of Conyers, daughters Jennifer Nichols Barnes (Jarrod) of Birmingham, Alabama and Ashley Elizabeth Nichols of Atlanta, brother Robert Hames Nichols (Mary) of Gainesville, sister Susan Nichols Joslin (Danny) of Clarkesville, granddaughters Lola Rose Barnes and Celia Kate Barnes of Birmingham, Alabama, as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Clarkesville First Methodist Church. The family will receive friends and loved ones at the church prior to the service from 12-2 p.m.
