Deborah Laraine (Canup) Free

Funeral services for Deborah Laraine Canup Free, age 71 of Clarkesville, will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 22, 2021 at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Powell officiating.  Interment will follow the service at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, March 22 from 12-2 PM.

Mrs. Free passed away Friday, March 19, 2021 following a period of declining health.

Born in Helen on March 14, 1950, Deborah was the daughter of the late Lewis and Loraine Burke Canup.  She had a 40-year career in banking throughout northeast Georgia, lastly as Executive Vice President at United Community Bank, Clarkesville.  Deborah was passionate about serving her customers and thought of them as a part of her extended family.  During her professional career she was involved in many civic, business, and charity organizations.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was the rock of her family.  In addition to her parents, Deborah is preceded in death by father in law and mother in law Vance and Minnie Free, and brothers in law Norris Free, Gerald Free, Benton Free and Cosby Barron.

Survivors include her husband Larry Free of Clarkesville, daughters Kimberli Krippner (John) of Clarkesville, Holly Free-Ollard (Pam) of Clarkesville, brothers Keith Canup (Judy) of Toccoa and Tim Canup (Kim) of Toccoa, sisters Katherine “Kathie” Ivester (Jerry) of Hartwell and Tamara Jamison (Michael) of Myrtle Beach, SC, grandchildren Kenslei Krippner of Mt. Airy, Kasey Nichols (Marshal) of Clarkesville, Jordan Krippner of Clarkesville and Ally Free of Clarkesville, great grandchildren Harper Nichols, Berklee Nichols and Hadley Nichols, sisters in law Ann Free of Clarkesville, Peggy Barron of Clarkesville, Lenelle Free of Clarkesville and Merle Free of Hollywood, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church, 6389 New Liberty Road, Clarkesville, GA 30523.
