Dennis E. "Pete" Chitwood

Dennis E. “Pete” Chitwood, age 57 of Alto, Georgia took his heavenly flight home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 10, 2023 following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Toccoa, Georgia on June 12, 1966, he was a son of Wanda Meeks Chitwood of Baldwin, Georgia & the late Dan Calloway Chitwood. Pete worked for Ten Cate Nicolon for over 16 years and alongside his brother, Danny in the construction industry for many years. He was also an avid Church League softball enthusiast. Most of all, Pete’s greatest blessing was supporting his children through coaching as well as their many other endeavors. He was a devoted husband, dedicated father & Poppy, loving son and brother. Pete was a member of the Line Baptist Church in Alto as well as the Mount Airy Masonic Lodge #141 F & A.M.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Donna Sue Chitwood; sister, Janice Chitwood; & mother-in-law, Linda Wade Pritchett.

Survivors include his loving wife of 39 ½ years, Tonya Pritchett Chitwood of Alto, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Cody & Nicole Chitwood of Dawsonville, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Megan & Daren Carder of Gainesville, GA; grandchildren, Alyssa Chitwood, Annabelle Chitwood, Briggs Chitwood, Hudson Carder, & Kohen Carder; mother, Wanda Meeks Chitwood of Baldwin, GA; brother & sister-in-law, Danny & Louvene Chitwood of Mount Airy, GA; father-in-law, Wendell Pritchett of Carnesville, GA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, & a host of friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kenneth McEntire & Rev. Scott Ledbetter officiating. Masonic rites will be provided by the Mount Airy Masonic Lodge #141 F & A.M.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. & from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2023.
