Donald Elsen

Donald Elsen, age 91 of Mt. Airy, passed away March 3, 2025.

Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on July 10, 1934, Don was the son of the late Paul and Ethel Elsen.  Don was a United States Army Veteran stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska during the Korean War.  In his early life, Don enjoyed bowling, softball and riding motorcycles, particularly taking road trips through the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. In 1984 he moved to Georgia to marry the love of his life, Ellen, which Don would say was “the best decision of my life”.  She soon shared his love of traveling by motorcycle and they spent many of their years together traveling and sight seeing the south.  Don and Ellen also shared a love of cooking and even occasionally working together at local restaurants.  Don spent his later years caring for Ellen as her health declined. After Ellen’s passing, he focused on his Christian Faith and making friends.  

Private graveside services will be held at Timpson Cove Cemetery where Don will be laid to rest next to his sweet Ellen.
