Eleanor "Buddy" (Franklin) Owens

Eleanor “Buddy” Franklin Owens, age 81 of Mt. Airy, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023.

Born in Florida on May 4, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Gladston Terrell & Gussie Mae Alexander Franklin. Buddy worked for Judge Jack Adams, Attorney at Law for many years where she was in charge of the Credit Bureau. In her spare time, she loved crossword puzzles, was an avid reader, and enjoyed growing vegetables as well as canning them. Buddy also enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After retirement, she and her husband, Wally enjoyed traveling and seeing the country. Buddy was a member of the Victory Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Edward “Wally” Owens; brother, Terrell Franklin, & sister, Brenda Franklin James.

Survivors include her daughters & son-in-law, Kami Owens Ferguson (Greg) of Cornelia, GA; Kelley Owens of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Chelsea Pendrey, Andrew Ferguson, Ryan Kelley, & Spencer Ferguson; great-grandchildren, Harper, Everleigh, & Reagan.

Graveside services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at the Victory Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2023.
