Grover Lafayette Free

Grover Lafayette Free, age 87 of Clarkesville, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 10, 2023.

Born in the Batesville Community of Clarkesville, Georgia on November 24, 1935, he was a son of the late Homer H. & Flora Wooten Free. Grover built houses for over 45 years until retirement. He was saved by the grace of God in a revival meeting at Macedonia Baptist Church in August of 1967 and loved the Lord with all of his heart. Grover was a people person and very proud of his family heritage. In his spare time, he enjoyed coon hunting and raising chickens.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his little sister, Linda Free as well as a brother, Jimmy Free.

Survivors include his siblings, Lucille Gunn, Bill Free, Marie Hunsucker, Emma Welborn, & Sue Patton all of Clarkesville, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Madison McCrackin & Rev. Ronnie Powell officiating. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert Clark officiating at the graveside.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour on Tuesday.
