Howard William Franklin, age 71 of Clarkesville, Georgia joined our Lord and Savior on Monday, April 17. 2023. He was born in Waynesboro, Georgia on April 30, 1951 to the late Wade and Annie Franklin of Midville, Georgia.
He was a graduate of Waynesboro High School and the University of Georgia. He worked for the USDA-Rural Development for over 30 years retiring in 2006.
He was a member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church. Howard volunteered many years with the Prison Ministry in Franklin County before having to stop due to the restrictions with covid. He was a long time supporter of the Gideon Bible Ministry.
Howard was always known for his quick wit, love of animals, and his ability to fix anything. Also, like any Franklin was always able to tell a great story and leave you with a smile on your face.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents and grandchild Scarlett Scout Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gretchen Dechau Franklin and their three daughters. Tiffany Murdock, Tara(Lee) Brown, Christian Franklin and eight grandchildren. Brother, Wade J. Franklin(Pam), Louisville, Ga., and sisters Barbara(Earl) Brantley, Gainesville, Ga., and Betty(David)Dundee, Cartersville, Ga. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 6th at 2:00PM at the Lavonia First Baptist Church in Lavonia, Georgia.
