Jeannie Turner Kinney, age 85 of Gainesville, passed away January 17, 2026.
Born in Griffin, Georgia on October 22, 1940, Mrs. Kinney was the daughter of the late Warren Robert Turner and the late Glynda Nelson Clotille. Mrs. Kinney was a research and oncology nurse for many years at St. Josephs Hospital. Mrs. Kinney loved horses and enjoyed shopping, cooking, sewing and hosting her friends and family. More than anything, Mrs. Kinney enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Toms Creek Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kinney is preceded in death by her husband Herbert Mitchell “Mitch” Kinney.
Survivors include son and daughter in law Brian and Carol Kinney of Braselton, daughter and son in law Melinda and Jim McIntyre of Gainesville, sisters Jane Wilhoit of McDonough, Angela Clayden of Pahrump, Nevada and Tisha Ruffolo of St. Augustine, Florida, as well as grandchildren Sean Hart, Steven Kinney, and Kaitlyn Kinney.
Plans for visitation and a gathering we be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation at t2t.org, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
