John Erwin Clyde Baugh, age 78 of Mt. Airy, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025.
Born in Heerlen, Netherlands on November 12, 1946, Mr. Baugh was the son of the late Clyde T. and Theresia Maria Paas Baugh. John was a truckdriver for over 60 years and he was very passionate about his career. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in Vietnam. John was also an Atlanta Falcons fan and he was a dog lover. In addition to his parents, Mr. Baugh is preceded in death by brothers Robey Baugh, Leo Baugh and Willie Baugh, sister Wilma Hyman, and granddaughter Candace Cook.
Survivors include daughters and sons in law Pam and Terry Cook of Commerce, Misty and Brian Lovell of Mt. Airy, brothers Hubert Baugh of Carnesville and Jimmy Baugh of Jackson, sister Hilde Baugh Rice (Mike) of Toccoa, grandchildren Andrew Murray (Aaron) and Sylas Cook (Jon), former wife of 22 years Martha Dillashaw Smith of Mt. Airy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Wes King, officiating. Veterans honors will be provided by the Grant-Reeves Honor Guard. Interment will follow the service in B.C. Grant Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 28th from 5-8 PM.
