Lenora Smith

Lenora Smith, age 90 of the Hazel Creek Community, Mt. Airy, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at her residence following an extended illness.

Born in Mt. Airy, Georgia on September 05, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Harold James & Martha Bertha Schmidt Smith. Lenora was retired from Ethicon (Johnson & Johnson Company) with over 45 years of dedicated service. She was a lifelong member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, worked with the ACTEENS, and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Although she never had children, Lenora lovingly helped raise many nieces and nephews as her own. In her spare time, she enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

In addition to her parents, Lenora was preceded in death by her sisters, Eugenie Burrell, Catherine Cantrell, & Louise Holcomb; nephews, David Cantrell & Keith Holcomb.

Survivors include her sister, Helen Smith of Mt. Airy, GA; brother & sister-in-law, Boyd & Floye Smith of Toccoa, GA; brother-in-law, Rev. Billy Burrell of Mt. Airy, GA; nieces & nephews, Neysa Joy Burrell, Denise Cantrell, Kevin & Julie Holcomb, Kim & Aundrea Cantrell, Chad & Doreen Smith, Brent & Crystal Holcomb; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, & friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Billy Burrell & Rev. Scott Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazel Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour on Tuesday.
