Lillie Mae (Savage) Nix

Mrs. Lillie Mae Savage Nix, age 97 of Demorest, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023.

Born in the Macedonia Community on February 7, 1926, Mrs. Nix was the daughter of the late J.T. and Birdie Whitworth Savage.  Mrs. Nix was a lifelong native of Habersham County and a dedicated member of Fairfield Baptist Church.  Mrs. Nix loved quilting and gardening and shared both with those she loved.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nix is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Burrell Nix, son Lloyd “Junior” Nix, brothers J. V. Savage, Lewis Savage and Lavaughn Savage, sisters Denise Gragg and Bernice Fry, and grandsons Greg Nix and Harvey Smith.

Survivors include sons and daughters in law Gerald and Gail Nix of Cleveland and Tommy and Tiffany Nix of Aiken, South Carolina, daughter Peggy Wilson of Cornelia, daughter and son in law JoAnn and Bruce Thomas of Demorest, daughter in law Myra Nix of Demorest, as well as nine grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Fairfield Baptist Church with Dr. Keith Allison, officiating.  Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
