Marie Wood Adair Roper

Marie Wood Adair Roper, age 97 of the Batesville Community, Clarkesville, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 27, 2023.

A life-long native of Habersham County and the Batesville Community, Marie was born on January 31, 1926, a daughter of the late Tom & Elzia Arrendale Wood. She was a graduate of Clarkesville High School and spent her working career with Clarkesville Mill Corporation with over 30 years of dedicated service. In her spare time, Marie loved working in her flower gardens, caretaking, and helping others in need. She was a faithful member of Providence Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Dewey Adair & Charles Roper; brothers, Russell Wood, Raymond Wood, & Charles Wood; sisters, Blondine Lovell, Imogene White, Katie Gragg, & Ruth Bennett.

Survivors include her loving sister, Sandra W. Barron; special niece & caretaker, Tanya Cole both of the Batesville Community, Clarkesville, GA; several other nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends; stepchildren, Diane & Gary Damon & their children of Marietta, GA; Danny & Debbie Roper & their children of Florida.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the Providence Baptist Church with Dr. Don Drawdy officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour on Saturday, July 29, 2023.
