Martha Ann Payne Wikle, age 78 of Cornelia, passed away April 29, 2025.
Born in Homer on January 17, 1947, Mrs. Wikle was the daughter of the late Holman Doc Payne and the late Alice Catherine Broome. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wikle is preceded in death by husband Johnny Wikle, infant daughters Lela Michele Wikle and Jill Ann Wikle, daughter in law Michele Tanksley Wikle, and sisters Ethel Evans, Ruth Justus and Annease McDuffy.
Mrs. Wikle worked in retail management for many years. She started at Wood’s in Clarkesville and later at Castleberry Fine Furniture and Eades Treasures for Your Home in Gainesville. Mrs. Wikle had a very sharp eye for décor and enjoyed helping her many friends and customers furnish their homes. She was a member of Faith Tabernacle.
Survivors include son and daughter in law Bret and Lourdes Wikle of El Paso, Texas, son Blake Wikle of Dahlonega, brother Tony McDuffy of Baldwin, sisters Betty Kimsey of Ohio and Carolyn Moody of Baldwin, and grandchildren Chandler Wikle (Maddie Self), Gracie Wikle, Liam Meyer, and Lucy McCullough.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Austin Kelley, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, prior to the service Wednesday, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to be made to the American Cancer Society.
