Mary Elizabeth Newton came into this world July 20, 1946 to the late E.C. Brown and Johnnie Lee Green Brown. She left her worldly body on February 20, 2024.
She was proceeded in death by her sister Georgia May Shade, two husbands, June Bell and Jimmie Newton, and two nephews, Derric and Erric Adams.
Mary joined the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at an early age. She graduated from Cornelia Regional Colored High School, Cornelia, GA and attended Albany Technical College in Albany, GA.
Mary moved to Atlanta where she joined Greater Springfield Baptist Church and sang in the choir with her angelic voice.
Mary was of the Christian faith and was loved by all. Keeping her memory alive is her sisters, Barbara Adams of Clarkesville GA, Louise Thomas (Charlie) of Ellenwood, GA, sister-in-love Almarie Green of Albany; brothers, Freddie Green of Albany, GA; James Brown (Virginia) of Douglas, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mary was a committed servant; her light, love, strength, and wisdom lives continuously in our hearts.
Memorial services will be held at Hillside Memorial Chapel and Gardens, 5495 GA-197, Clarkesville, GA, on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
