Mary (Goss) Umbehant

Mary Goss Umbehant, age 82 of Mt. Airy, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2022.

A lifelong native of Habersham County, Mrs. Umbehant born on September 12, 1939.  She was the daughter of the late Frank and Georgia Nations Goss.  Mrs. Umbehant spent her entire career in the medical field; she was a respiratory therapist at Toccoa Nursing Center and for the last 30 plus years she was a CNA at The Oaks at Scenic View.  Mary had a true servant’s heart and spent her entire life taking care of others.  Her grandchildren were the light of her life.  Mrs. Umbehant was of the Methodist faith.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Umbehant is preceded in death by daughter Wanda Belford, sisters Ruby Farmer, Frances Free, Betty Burton, Linda Goss and Mae Jones and brothers Frank Goss, Jr, Randolph Goss and Eugene Goss.

Survivors include sons and daughters in law Steve Trotter (Deborah) of Demorest and Winford Trotter (Ming) of Demorest, daughter Brenda Merck (Mitchell) of Mt. Airy, sister Geneva Reece of Clarkesville, grandchildren Chris Merck (Dina), Robin Trotter, Adam Phillips (Nicole), Jacob Phillips (Lindsey), Deven Trotter and Karian Trotter, four great grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bill Trotter officiating.  Interment will follow the service at Stonepile Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, July 30th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
