Melissa Lynn Tysor Dean, age 60 of Clarkesville, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 27, 2023.
Born in Demorest, Georgia on August 14, 1962, she was a daughter of Frankie Allen of Helen, Georgia & the late Gene Tysor. Melissa was a graduate of White County High School, Class of 1980 and furthered her education at Columbus State University and Piedmont University where she received her Master’s Degree in Music Education. She served her country proudly in the United States Army. In her spare time, Melissa enjoyed quilting and being outdoors. Most of all, she enjoyed precious time with her family, especially her grandchildren, Grace, Jonah, & Charlie.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Shawn Ryan Cooper.
Survivors include her loving husband of 39 ½ years, Marty Dean of Clarkesville, GA; daughters & son-in-law, Sarah Cooper of Clarkesville, GA; Rachel & Josh Cowart of Athens, GA; grandchildren, Grace Cooper of Clarkesville, GA; Jonah Cowart & Charlie Cowart both of Athens, GA; mother, Frankie Allen of Helen, GA; sister & brother-in-law, April & Keith Teems; niece, Savannah Teems, nephew, Max Teems; all of Sautee, GA; step-mother, Mildred Tysor of Helen, GA; other relatives, & a host of friends.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 04, 2023 at the Old Nacoochee Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Keith Cox & Reverend Steve Cowart officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 04, 2023 prior to the service.
