Robert Eugene "Gene Spivey, 89, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away Wednesday, May 31, at his home surrounded by loved ones.
He was born January 26, 1934, in Fulton County, Georgia. He served many years in the Army National Guard and then was employed with General Motors, Doraville, Georgia. After many dedicated years of service at General Motors, Gene retired and moved to Northeast Georgia, where he spent the remainder of his life. After retirement, Gene loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends.
Gene is survived by his wife, of 21 wonderful years, Betty, his daughter Lynne (Tommy) Ray of Lawrenceville, son, Keith (Kathy) Spivey of Mount Airy, daughter Kerri Spivey of North Carolina, step-son, Michael (Melissa) Free of Mount Airy, stepdaughter, Brandi (Michael) Wood of Demorest, brother, Russell (Sandi) Spivey of Monroe, sister, Laverne Larocca of Alabama and seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and his emotional support dog, “Toby”.
Gene's wishes were to be cremated with no formal service. The family will have a celebration of his long life at a later date.
