Royce Jones Obituary

Royce Amon Jones, 84, went home to be with the Lord peacefully in his home on July 11th, 2025.

Royce resided in Cornelia with his wife of 51 years, Phyllis Harris Jones. He was most known for his love of the Lord, airplanes, and his project Corvette. Royce was the happiest when he was surrounded by all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Of course, we cannot forget his beloved dogs, Bella and Dixie. 

Royce was born in Hereford, Texas on September 14th, 1940 alongside his twin brother Ramon Clois Jones. He was born the son of Amon Clois (A.C.) and Aleene Jones. The twins were later joined by siblings Lana, Janet, and Robert. 

 At age 17, Royce joined the Navy and served as part of the Naval Air Service. His patriotism and love for his country started young and continued throughout his lifetime. Royce was a devoted member of the VFW post 84. Royce was also a devoted member of Camp Creek Baptist Church. 

Royce was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Ramon, sister Lana, son Gordon, and grandson Jason. 

Royce is survived by his wife Phyllis Harris Jones, his children Paula Newlon LaCavera, Brian Jones and wife Marissa, Cristine Newlon Smiga and husband Christopher, Clara Jones Hernandez and husband Alex, and Denise Hamilton Seitz. 

He is survived by his siblings Janet Jones Demarchi and Robert Jones and wife Leslie. He is survived by his grandchildren Camden Lorraine Randels and husband Marshall, Amon Jones, Breanne Smiga, William Smiga, and Ethan Smiga. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Meredith Jones, Dane Randels, Ellis Randels, Wyatt Jones, and Jude Randels, as well as numerous adopted children and grandchildren including Sidney, Gabrielle, Jessica, Jared, Jennifer, Michael, Jason, McKinlee, Walker, and Blakely.  

Royce's remains will be cremated and interred at Camp Creek Baptist Church, Cornelia Georgia.  The family will receive guests Saturday, July 19th starting at 1pm at Camp Creek Baptist Church, 1761 Camp Creek Road, Cornelia, Georgia and his memorial service will be held at 2 pm in the sanctuary for those who would like to attend.
