Sanford “Ray” Gosnell, age 96 of the New Liberty Community, Clarkesville, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.
Born in Clarkesville, Georgia on March 02, 1926, he was a son of the late Minor & Edna Holcomb Gosnell. Ray served his country proudly in United States Army in Germany after WWII from 1950-1956. He worked as a mechanic for Fieldale Farms Corporation before retirement with over 35 years of dedicated service. In his spare time, Ray enjoyed fishing, fox hunting, and was an avid gardener. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Grace Whitworth Gosnell; son-in-law, Richard Fry; brothers & sister-in-law, Glenn & Maude Gosnell, James Gosnell, Harold Gosnell; & baby sister, Monaree Gosnell.
Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Gosnell Fry of Clarkesville, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Kenneth & Debbie Gosnell of Cornelia, GA; grandchildren, Kurt & Pamela Gosnell of Mount Airy, GA; Katie & Anthony Bergalowski of Colorado Springs, CO; Brody & Ruth Sexton of Demorest, GA; Clint Sexton of Cornelia, GA; great-grandchildren, Makenzie Gosnell, Levi Gosnell, James Bergalowski, Taylor Bergalowski, Jacklyn Bergalowski, & Brandon Sexton; brother & sister-in-law, Bill & Carolyn Gosnell of Clarkesville, GA; sister-in-law, Elmina Gosnell of Clarkesville, GA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, & a host of friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Austin Kelley officiating. Interment will follow the service at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Grant Reeves Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2023.
