Tami (Mitchell) Hefner

Tami Mitchell Hefner, age 73 of Gainesville and formerly of Habersham County, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021.

Born on September 24, 1947 in Owensboro, Kentucky, Mrs. Hefner was the daughter of the late Jack and Willie Lou Moore Mitchell.  Tami was in the nursing profession beginning at age 15 as a candy striper in Athens, Georgia.  She later earned her Nurse Practitioner’s license from North Georgia College and worked locally at The Oaks at Scenic View, Lee Arrendale State Prison, White County Detention Center, and the practice of Dr. James G. Hamilton, Jr.  Tami recently attended The Torch and formerly attended Macedonia Baptist Church and Hazel Grove Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Hefner.

Survivors include son and daughter in law Scott and Keisha White Hefner of Andrews, North Carolina, daughter and son in law Amy Hefner Callahan and Joey Callahan of Gainesville, grandchildren Bella and E.J. Callahan and siblings Vici Payne, Jack Mitchell and Danny Mitchell all of Athens.

Private interment was held at Hazel Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
