Thomas Joseph Garrett

Thomas Joseph Garrett, age 92 of Clarkesville passed away August 14, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Garrett was born August 15, 1930 in New York City to the late John and Mary Walsh Garrett.  He was the youngest and last surviving of eight children.  Mr. Garrett was retired from Greenwich Hospital where he was the Assistant Director of Housekeeping.  He was very involved in youth sports, particularly Westchester County Little League in New York.  Mr. Garrett was a life-long New York Giants fan and was a season ticket holder since 1959.  He and his wife Lisa enjoyed traveling extensively and he will be remembered for his Kentucky Derby parties replete with derby hats and mint juleps.  He was a faithful member of St. Mark Catholic Church where he was active in the Knights of Columbus. 

Survived by: his wife Lieselotte Hilz Garrett of the home, sons William Garrett (Susan), Michael Garrett (Joan) and Thomas Garrett (Peggy), daughters Diane Dwyer, Eileen LeRoy (Howard, who preceded him in death) and Mary Lehtonen (David), stepchildren Edwin Neal (Verna), Guy Neal (Dawn) and Karin Neal, as well as sixteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 8, 2023 at St. Mark Catholic Church in Clarkesville, GA.  Interment will follow the mass in Hillside Gardens Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
